Here is a quick guide to help you choose the right bottle for your little ones.
Nipples/Teats
There are different sizes when it comes to the nipple selection. The size refers to the size of the nipple opening or flow rates. As your baby grows, the teat that is best for them changes too.
At Evorie, we have the following sizes:
What makes our sizes interesting is the addition of our cross-cut adaptive flow teats. The cross-cut adaptive flow teat is an innovative design where the flow rate depends on how hard and quick your little one suckles. It is designed to mimic the natural human breast.
Similar to breastfeeding, the harder or the quicker your little one sucks, the faster is the milk flow. This teat design discourages lazy feeding where your little one just waits for the milk to flow out on its own, a problem common with the larger teat size.
The adaptive flow teat is suitable for use from 3 months onwards, which means one could replace the M and the L teat with this and not have to worry when to switch over to a larger size.
Another thing to take note is the material of the nipple/teat. The main materials that are usually used are Silicone and Latex.
Silicone tends to be firm and durable whereas latex is softer but does not last as long. Do note that there are some instances where some babies are allergic to latex.
At Evorie, we designed super soft silicone teats to ensure smooth transition from breast to bottle to cup, letting the right volume of milk flow through based on your child’s development stage. The anti-colic air system minimises air intake for a more comfortable feed as well.
Remember to keep an eye on bottle nipples and replace them if they show signs of wear and tear, such as thinning, or becoming sticky, discolored, cracked or torn.
Shape
There are various shapes when it comes to the bottles. We know it gets confusing about the pros and cons for the different shapes.
To make it easier here is a quick summary, bottles tend to come in these shapes:
| Standard | Tall and straight, and easy to fill and clean. |
| Angled | Bent at the neck so milk collects at the bottom, which may prevent your baby from swallowing air. The downside is that they may be more cumbersome to fill and clean. |
| Wide | Designed to hold wide, short nipples that mimic a breast. |
A little additional tip from us, it’s easier to clean a bottle with a broader neck.
Material
When it comes to the materials for baby bottles, they are usually made of plastic, silicone, glass, etc. The materials range in prices and durability and each have their own pros and cons. A good rule of thumb is to always make sure your bottle of choice is BPA-free

Sizes
Most major brands has 2-3 sizes. Smaller-sized bottles, typically around 160ml, are designed for newborns, who consume less per feeding compared to the older babies.
Older babies who consume more usually use the larger bottles, which hold around 240ml of milk.
Vents
Bottles with special venting features limit how much air Baby inhales. This may reduce gas and spit-up, which helps reduce fussiness. Venting bottles may be especially beneficial for babies suffering from colic.
We all love a clean bottle!
Once you have found the bottle that works for your baby, it is then time to clean it thoroughly before the first feeding! Sterilize, wash and make sure you get into all the little nooks and crevices with a detail brush.
