Why is Tritan the ideal material for baby bottles?

Why is Tritan the ideal material for baby bottles?

Tritan™ is a premium new-generation copolyester manufactured and trademarked by the 100 years old American company - Eastman Chemical Company.

Tritan™ is made of BPS and BPA-free plastic, which means it is not manufactured with bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol S (BPS), as well as any other bisphenol compounds.

In addition to BPA and BPS-free, Tritan™ offers the following unexpected advantages:

  • Impact-resistantTritan™ products can be used without fear of shattering. Children between 9-30 months old are in their exploratory phase. They learn by touching, feeling and often times, throwing and smashing things. This attribute of gives parents the ease of mind when they choose Tritan-made products for their little ones.

  • ToughTritan™ extends the useful life of water bottles and food containers, potentially reducing waste. Tritan™ products are extremely hardy. They often outlast products made of glass and other plastics. This is why Tritan™ is the material of choice for many camping and outdoor equipment such as Nalgene Water bottles.

  • Clarity – Tritan™ is crystal clear and indistinguishable from glass in terms of brightness and shine. The material retains these properties even after being used repeatedly. Not only that, Tritan™ also has a stainless property similar to glass, making it easier to clean than most plastics. In short, Tritan™ offers users the desirable properties of glass but without the breakability.

  • Exceptional dishwasher durability — This helps in encouraging proper sanitation for greater plastic container safety. Tritan™ products are dishwasher friendly, offering tired parents the added convenience.

  • Lighter than glassTritan™ light weight also helps in the handling of the feeding bottles or water bottles. For parents, going out often means lugging a big diaper bag filled with literally everything one can think of from baby wipes to diapers to milk power. Tritan's light weight means your diaper bag and your little one's school bag can be that much lighter.

  • No estrogenic or androgenic activity  While BPA is the most widely known chemical that may exhibit estrogenic activity (EA) in plastic products, according to some, it may not be the only one. Comprehensive, independent, third-party laboratories using well-recognized methods have confirmed that Tritan™ not only does not BPA, BPS and other Bisphenols, it also does not contain estrogenic activity (EA) and androgenic activity (AA).

  • Microwave Safe, Food-grade, Odorless  Tritan™ can withstand temperatures of up to 110 ͦC and is microwave safe. Not only that, Tritan is odorless even at high temperature, unlike many other types of plastics which gives off a foul smell. As a result, Eastman Tritan™ copolyester has been cleared for food-contact applications by numerous regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Health Canada, the European Food Safety Authority and China's Ministry of Health.

All these properties makes Tritan™ one of the best material for producing baby products. Tritan plastic is already used in over 600 products around the world. This includes medical grade equipment such as blood therapy devices as well as food contact products including water bottles, blenders and food storage containers.

Evorie™ partners with Eastman Chemical, working closely to develop one of the highest grade variation of BPA free Tritan™ most suitable for infant usage. Evorie's range of Tritan Baby feeding bottles and Sippy cups combines all the advantages (light-weight, clarity etc) of glass with the functionality and durability of the highest grade plastics.

While more expensive than PP and PES, Tritan™ is more affordable than PPSU. As a result, we are starting to see more Tritan-made products coming onto the consumer markets as they provide a more cost-effective solution compared to other materials. In short, Tritan offers PPSU superiority at an affordable price, therefore making it "better than PPSU" !
